Happy Holidays~

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 9, 2009, 6:17 PM
Sorry I haven't been updating much. I've written a few things that I swear I'll get up eventually.

In the meantime:

Happy Holidays~

>> Be one of the first eighteen people commenting on this journal entry, and I will add you to the Featured List!

>>> For each of the eighteen first people answering this journal, I will put his/her avatar and the three deviations I like most from his/her gallery on the list.

>>> If you answer, you'll have to do the same in your journal, putting me on the first place, completing the list with seventeen other people. The idea of this is not to get a free feature, it is to spread art around for everyone.

Okay. I think my disgustingly long bout of writer's block has cleared. Words are now dancing in my head. My fingers can't keep up. Most of it will probably never be seen, but at least now I am ready for NaNoWriMo.

Yo.

Ever get that feeling that you've just got to read some achingly bad poetry rightthisveryminute? Check out my gallery. Two really horrible poems have just been added.

I've apparently forgotten how to write. Summer has broken my brain. I have photos from my San Antonio trip that I need to upload. Old things and rocks! All in one vacay! You just can't beat that :O

So I did. I want to write something but I'm not sure what. I feel like I am only ever productive during November.

Edit: Okay, so apparently by "write something" I meant "snap a pic with my webcam." The blank white-ness of my not-writing is horribly intimidating.

I'm considering leaving deviantart. It just doesn't seem worth it anymore. I've never really posted much, but I always wanted to stay on so that I could keep my all of work in one place. It just doesn't seem worth it anymore though. Every time I log on, I get slammed with ads and it feels like deviantart is trying to force me to subscribe. I don't use this site nearly enough to justify spending the money on a subscription, and I'm sick of feeling as if this place is trying to force me to pay.

And really, the biggest reason I'm still on here is to keep track of Kelly, but since I've you on other sites, I think I may be able to live without this site.

Idk...I may just keep this account so that I can look at my friends' stuff, but I don't think I'm going to posting anything more here.

Sorry I haven't really been updating. I've had IRL stuff ruining any artistic mood that dared to cross my path. It's over now (I think) and I'm focusing my efforts on Script Frenzy. On my down time, I do hope to upload some photos I've taken, so look forward to that if I ever actually get around to doing that.

I don't know. It just kind of bothers me that deviantart/Corel is only offering the 15% off to subscribers. Not everyone can afford to be a subscriber, and not everyone gets enough out of a subscription to justify the price or it. It especially bothers me that they would be so public about it. If they wanted to offer it only to subscribers, they should have just sent a special message to those with subscriptions. This just seems like a pathetic attempt to rake in more money and I feel it is in very poor taste. The only subscriber perks that deviantart should be advertising to the general public should be on-site features.

Bleagh........I swear I'll update soon. I have a lot of photos, I just need to get off my butt and upload them.

What follows was lazily copy/pasted from my LJ. Figure out the connection with the journal title on your own. ;)

What is the iCiNG Transformation Challenge? Well, it's a chance to transform yourself! A better explanation comes from the mouth of the unicorn herself:
"For those of you who weren’t here for it last year, the iCiNG Transformation Challenge is an opportunity to achieve something you’ve wanted to do for a while but as yet, haven’t quite managed to hit out of the park."

Gala Darling did this last year, and she's doing it again and I've decided to jump on the bandwagon. For this year's iTC I have decided upon just three goals:

  1. Write something every day. Doesn't matter what. It could be a beautifully worded grocery list or a short story or a poem. So long as I do it with intent and to the best of my ability, it counts. I am hoping that this will cause me to grow artistically and creatively.
  2. Along the same vein, I will take at least one photograph each day. It can be an image that sums up the experience of my day, or a picture of one special moment. It can even just be an outfit shot or a hastily taken, 'Oooh, look! My cat is cute!' photo. I just have to take one.
  3. I will start playing my violin again. That doesn't necessarily mean practicing everyday, though. My goal is to play several times a week, and to be conscious in my efforts of improving my technique and style while doing it. As long as I am present during my practice, I will get more out of it than if I were just playing every day for the sake of playing. My hope is that as I get back into the groove, it will once again become impossible for me to put it down!

What about you guys? Are you up for the challenge?

1.) Your name: Megan
1. A girl that is very stubborn but at the same time can be the greatest friend on the planet. She loves pizza and is absolutley gorgeous. She is loved by everybody and is fucking hilarious!
2. The most incredible friend anyone could ever have. She is incredibly beautiful both inside and out, even if she can't see it. She is absolutely hilarious, and extremely intelligent. She will be there for you no matter what, and gives you more than you deserve. She makes you realize all the good in life. She is your Sunshine.
3. More extreme version of meatatarian (alternate spelling: meagan).

A vegetarian doesn't eat meat; a vegan eats only fruits and vegetables.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, a meatarian wants meat in every meal; a meagan not only wants meat in every meal, but avoids the veggies altogether.

2.) Your age: 19
1. To "be 19", or to have "gone 19" essentially means that something has gone wrong, is just plain weird, or is inexplicable. Derived from Stephen King's 'Dark Tower' series. Its true meaning, if anything more than a motif, has yet to be revealed.
2. The Canadian drinking age. 2 years better than 21.
3. the last year of ya "TEENS" :oS

3.) What should you be doing: showering
To shower. Code for male masturbation and blowin giz all over the place.

4.) Favorite color: pink
1. Color seen as the most stereotypical "feminine" color.
2. Singer (real name Alicia Moore) who started out doing rap, then pop, then more emotional (but not emo) pop. Married to Carey Hart, who has begun referring to himself as "Mr. Pink", not only because of his marriage but because he likes Reservoir Dogs.
3. slang reference to the vagina
4. A colthing line by Victoria's Secret. It includes Panites, tank tops, shorts, bathing suits etc...

5.) Birthplace: Humble
1. An admirable quality that not many people possess. It means that a person may have accomplished alot, or be alot but doesn't feel it is necessary to advertise or brag about it.
2. To degrade, to cut one's ego down to size. It is not necessarily done in a rude fashion but it SHOULD BE.
3. If you were to meet a humble person, he wouldn't be the kind of person who thinks lower of himself than others think he should. Instead, he would not think of himself at all! A humble person isn't interested in saying "I suck" or "I'm not that great". These statements come from a person who thinks he should be better than he is. A truly humble person isn't concerned with who he is or who he should be. He isn't concerned with himself at all, but instead he's concerned with other people.
4. Noun: a misdemeanor; a criminal offense punishable by less than one year in prison.

6.) Month of your birth: August
1. The eigth month of the year characterized by cookouts and swimming!
2. The idea of perfection. The 8th Month of the year in certain European and Asian cultures signifies greatness in achieving perfection, or something close to it.
3. That short German muscle guy that sits in the back of the bar who can drink everybody under the table.

7.) Last person you talked to: Mom
1. he woman who loves you unconditionally from birth, the one who puts her kids before herself and the one who you can always count on above everyone else.

Just telling her your problems makes you feel better because mom's always know how to make it all go away.

Even if you fight, know that she's just looking out for your best interests.
2. someone who gave birth to you.
3. The constant flow of cash and ass whoopings until the age of 18.

8.) One of your nicknames: Megs
A beautiful girl who is intelligent yet fun and spontaneous at the same time. The kind of girl you'd like to settle down with. (There were others, but I felt this was the only one worth putting down) ;)

Love this:

The Quiet World
Jeffrey McDaniel

In an effort to get people to look
into each other's eyes more,
and also to appease the mutes,
the government has decided
to allot each person exactly one hundred
and sixty-seven words, per day.

When the phone rings, I put it to my ear
without saying hello. In the restaurant
I point at chicken noodle soup.
I am adjusting well to the new way.

Late at night, I call my long distance lover,
proudly say I only used fifty-nine today.
I saved the rest for you.

When she doesn't respond,
I know she's used up all her words,
so I slowly whisper I love you
thirty-two and a third times.
After that, we just sit on the line
and listen to each other breathe.

How has everyone's NEW YEAR been?

On Thursday I went to the Galleria with Cindy and Kourtney and we pranced about in our rufflebutted glory. We had a late lunch/early dinner (luner?) at the Grand Lux Cafe and then watched the second movie in the Underworld series at Cindy's place. I was horribly distraught when I realized I had forgotten my large bag at home and did not have space enough in my purse to bring home some of her kitties. I love them too much. I shall liberate them from her.

....kidding. (Or am I?)

I'm really stressed out about work right now. I hate the fact that in a week I may not have a job and I have no say in it and it isn't because I am a sucky worker or anything. I've been having trouble sleeping and my muscles hurt and I am finding it hard to smile. I can't wait until all of this is over.

Has anyone else had a problem with deviantart deleting stuff out of their message center? I mean, it's no big deal because I know what the comment was and what it was on and who it was by, but I didn't delete it myself and now it's just... vanished.

I like to keep all of my comments and activity messages for a really long time, since I don't get them very often. :|

I would never actually come out and say to anyone that if you're going to fav one of my deviations, you should comment as well, or to only offer constructive criticism (or no criticism at all). I'm not going to be excessively picky over stuff like that, because it's trivial and I'm happy hearing ANY opinion or receiving ANY sort of acknowledgment--mostly because I have maybe two people watching me and get maybe ten comments/favs a year (if that), but I know some people are just idiots and it makes various artists get really pissed off.

So, here is my question for you: If this were a perfect world and everyone was flawless and great, what would you like your commenters/fav-ers/watchers do?

Personally, I'm not that picky, but I think the one thing that always grates my nerves a bit, is when someone just criticizes my work without offering any tips on how to fix the supposed problem. Honestly, if you can't think of how to improve the piece, then why are you criticizing it in the first place? It's understandable if you dislike something...whatever, everyone feels that way. But don't just say, "I hate this, this, and this you shouldn't do it." Not only is it wasting your time, it's wasting the artists time too, because that sort of thing is not offering any way for improvement. I remember once I had to swap papers with someone for a peer review thing in school and they didn't like my thesis. This person could not offer any suggestions for improving it, they just said, "I think this is a stupid thesis," or something like that and I was so annoyed because the person could not (or would not) vocalize WHAT it was they disliked or how I could FIX it, which was the whole point of having a peer review in the first place. The whole process was not angering, but it WAS FRUSTRATING beyond belief. I don't care if you dislike something, but please tell me how I could tweak it here and there to make it more enjoyable, y'know?

Also, another thing I would change would be the people who throw big huge hissy fits just because someone insults their work. Whatever. This person didn't like it, thank them for their opinion and move on. Don't attack them personally. Why bother creating drama? If you dislike what someone says, don't continue the conversation, because it will just result in the both of you wasting time going back and forth and make both parties look bad. Stop yourself and protect your own image. There's a reason everyone hates mudslinging political campaigns, y'know?

I think the last thing I would change would be the blankness that online commenting creates. When you are just reading words on a screen, it's so easy to misconstrue someone's meaning. I wish that everyone could just record an audio of their thoughts and post that, because I think it would make some comments come off nicer and less warped, y'know?

edit: I would also have everyone use proper spelling and grammar because using incorrect language causes a person to come off as uneducated and doesn't make me want to take them seriously, regardless of their level of expertise! *is a total grammar nazi*

...you just can't get rid of me!!!

So so so....hurricane Ike hit. It came, it went. It took my power to Vegas to get hitched at the Elvis wedding chapel. My electricity came back after 349 hours of absence. The annulment is still in progress.

We faired quite well. Mom's car got hit, but barely so. We're still planning on catching up on as much FEMA compensation as we can. What can I say? We're greedy bastards. :XD:

On the subject of my absence:

OMG GUYS COULD YOU SUBMIT LESS DEVIATIONS?!!?!?!

Seriously. I've got over 100 deviations, plus journals, and polls and other stuff. D: TOO MUCH!!

I've been working on my NaNo plans. I'm really looking forward to this year's novel. It's going to be a super hero story. :D I'll post excerpts here so I can have something to show for all these years on this site.

I'm also working on a super secret project. :D

But now I'm sick and really behind on all of my site updates EVERYWHERE, so expect to see very little of me for a while.

Lol...sorry for not posting anything recently. And now, I'm only here to ask for TECH HELP. :XD:

I fail so hard....anyways:

Hey guys, it looks like my laptop is going to die on me about a year sooner than I had anticipated. :( I knew it wasn't going to last long, but I had been hoping it would at least get me through my associate's. Now it looks like I'll be needing a new one by the end of this semester. I hadn't anticipated having to buy a new one so soon, so I'm a bit unsure of what to get. It really doesn't help that I'm not that much of a tech-y person either. ^_^;

Suggestions? Helpful hints for laptop shopping? Brands/models I should totally stay away from?

For the record, I'm looking for one with a lot of memory (although that's not such a biggie since I can always add more later if I end up not having enough), cd/dvd player/burner, small and not too heavy, multiple usb ports (is this standard now? I haven't really looked into it), and umm...well that's it. Just really basic stuff. I'm not fancy or anything. I'm not a gamer, I mostly need it to handle a shit-load of writing (school and not) and be insanely easy to use and come with a lot of support for when I invariable don't know what I'm doing. I'm looking to spend about $1,000 on it, but I am willing to go higher if I find "The One."

I've just never had to buy a laptop before (this one was a second gen hand-down) so I don't know what to look for. :[
